SO/ Sotogrande was an excellent resort in which to experience many outstanding golf courses in the area. The breakfast each morning got our day off to a great start and the morning staff were outstanding. We enjoyed many nice dinners and there were excellent and varied menu choices. The rooms were quiet and spacious. The spa was a great place to unwind after a round of golf.

The hotel is remote. After arriving late I decided to visit the tapas bar. Very limited choices so I had room service. I had to wait 2hrs. The menue was again limited and basic. The food was average. In the morning I visited the spa, it was nice. Worth noting the outdoor pool and spa do not open until 9am. Breakfast again very average.

The facilities and rooms are nice but the service is noticeably very poor relative to hotels of this price point and does not warrant the 5 star label. There were extreme amounts of very strange rules - it often felt as though we were in a school (eg no water next to the pool?!?) Although reception Staff were mostly very good, staff elsewhere at bars and restaurants were quite unfriendly or brash. We find the lack of mugs / glasses in bedrooms a greenwashing tactic (again this feels like something you’d expect from a 3 star)- also there was no where other than the gym to fill up a water bottle. Overall, the service falls significantly short of the price / 5 star label. Other smaller annoying things were that our keys got cut off on our last morning. Also we were given a double bed but booked 2 separate beds. Also no bath in our room which is a big deal for us.

We fully understand how frustrating it must have been not to receive the twin bedding you had reserved, or to find there was no bathtub in the room — especially when those details matter most to your comfort. The early deactivation of your room key and the missed opportunity to proactively offer solutions for water access or reusable items only added to that frustration. Please accept my sincerest apologies. With regard to the use of paper cups and limited refill stations, your feedback is both valid and valuable. Our goal is to strike a balance between our sustainability initiatives and guest comfort — clearly, in your case, we missed the mark. I have shared your comments with both our Operations and Sustainability teams so we can reflect and take action to improve clarity and the guest experience overall. Thank you again for taking the time to share your impressions. While we regret that this visit was not fully satisfying, we would very much welcome the opportunity to restore your confidence in a future stay — with the warmth and service that should always define our resort.
