The location of the hotel was great and staff lovely but that did not make up for dirty rooms with major stains on the carpets, and a view of a stairwell with no natural light so felt claustrophobic. As a long standing Accor member I booked through the Accor portal NOT on the main site so there was nothing written there about the rooms on the lower floors with no view or block out windows. I stayed for 5 days and would not stay again… the hotel is more focused on the large group travellers.

We understand how important natural light and a comfortable atmosphere are, and we’re sorry that the view and lighting caused discomfort. Your comment about the carpet condition is also concerning, and we will have our housekeeping and maintenance teams look into this immediately. We also apologize for the inconvenience during breakfast due to the presence of large tour groups. We are continuously working to improve the flow and comfort of our dining area, especially during peak times. Your suggestion regarding clearer information on the Accor app about room views is valuable, and we will consider how to make such details more transparent for future guests. Husband didn't like Japanese food (!) so for our last dinner in Kyoto I tried to compromise. Trattoria M Kyoto in Hotel Mercure was the perfect answer! Great Italian food AND wagyu steak. Linguine reactors was full of fresh seafood and lasagna was perfect. Wagyu steak melted in our mouths. Great service as well.

Still mesmerized by our stay in Mercure Kyoto. Traveling with family (13 people) in a trip organized by myself , took advantage of my ALL plus membership and we were treated to stay in the 10 floor that included among other things , free snacks and drinks in the lounge between 2:30 and 5. Hotel is not very big and has a restaurant that is used for breakfast but also serves dinner Italian style. Rooms are tastefully decorated and include a nespresso coffee machine ( at least the ones in the 10th floor) . Breakfast has a very good choice of western / Japanese food. During our stay although busy it wasn’t awfully crowded. Amazing choice of toiletries in the bathroom and very nice shower including rain shower and different kind of pressures There is a library / lounge to relax in the basement, again, super tastefully decorated. Location about 19 minutes from Kyoto train station. Beds were very comfy and we booked one with sofa bed for the kids to sleep with us. If in Kyoto again I would not look anywhere else.
