The Management and Staff are working hard, but it feels like they are being restricted by policies that aren’t fair on them. The pool is lovely. Although pillows and cushions are not put out till the afternoon. The drinks menu is not fully stocked by the bar. Lots of Accor boxes being ticked - commitment to sustainability, access to scooters, loyalty system, kids play area - but everything feels like it doesn’t quite work. Yes, you can hire an electric scooter, but it is the same price for half an hour as hiring a moped next door for three hours - so they never get used. But it ticks an Accor box. There was a kids play area, and a co-working space. Next to each other!! Seriously, it is insane. But it ticks an Accor box. And no air conditioning in public spaces. Unless you are in your room, expect to be in 30° temperature. The Architect of this building should be forced to work from here. As soon as breakfast finishes at 10 am, the air conditioning in the restaurant is turned off. It is sweltering. The buffet selection is quite extensive, but it is pretty basic. I would recommend heading to the Mercure for breakfast. Rooms are typical ibis, well appointed, with good technology. The Internet in the hotel is excellent. The hotel manager is very friendly and he’s running a good team. We had a small problem with a noise in our room. We were moved immediately with no fuss. If you cannot handle hot temperatures, do not stay at this hotel. In all my travels, Africa, India, Asia, - I have never stayed in a hotel this hot. Also, asking for a positive Google review on checkin is uncomfortable and weird. Ask on checkout!

Wonderful stay at this hotel . Hotel manager was so welcoming. I am very impressed. The hotel is beautifully decorated. Amazing views of the ocean . Delicious breakfast included. I highly recommend this hotel .Beds were so comfortable. Great value for money.

I had never been to Viet Nam, But now I am in Love. I booked at Ibis Styles because of the location and the pool. I was not disappointed. The staff exceed above the basics. Ready to help in any way. Laundry services are great, pool top mocktails are awesome, sunrise views from the pool. Booking taxis to help me also is very helpful. Food.... exceptional breakfast and affordable other meals. I missed the coconut Ice Cream days. Week day Vung Tau is lovely. Weekend Vung Tau is the Busiest I have seen since Japan. Crazy busy. Rooms are fresh and clean, a great shower and comfy bed. Views can be seen to Jesus and the Light house Bunker.

If Pullman Vung Tau is a crash course in how to alienate paying guests, then Ibis Styles is the joyful TED Talk on how to make people actually want to stay. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this hotel not only understands hospitality but also enjoys delivering it. Revolutionary, I know. Let’s address the elephant in the lobby: yes, they tried to charge us for the entire stay upfront, just like their overhyped neighbour. But here’s the difference—Ibis Styles didn’t act like it was a guest’s privilege to be misunderstood. Instead, Ms Binh, the manager on duty, took the situation in stride. No icy glares, no “that’s just our policy” nonsense. She apologised, fixed the issue, and then did something Pullman would never dream of: went above and beyond. A complimentary bottle of wine and late check-out later, we felt less like inconvenienced customers and more like valued guests. What a concept! The location? Right on the beach. Take that, “five-star” hotels hiding behind construction sites. The staff? Cheerful, attentive, and miraculously competent. From the breakfast crew to the pool attendants, they managed to strike the elusive balance of being helpful without hovering. This, dear Pullman, is how you create a welcoming atmosphere. While the Pullman flounders with mismatched wines and a beer identity crisis, Ibis Styles keeps it simple and succeeds. No pretence, no gimmicks—just good service, clean rooms, and a team that genuinely seems to enjoy their jobs. The result? A hotel that does exactly what it promises and a guest who happily cancelled their second night at the Pullman to stay here instead. Will I return? Definitely. Will I recommend Ibis Styles to anyone visiting Vung Tau? Absolutely. It’s affordable, efficient, and delightful—and proof that a smile and a bit of effort go a long way. Pullman could take notes, but honestly, it’s probably too late for them. Bravo, Ibis Styles. Keep doing what you’re doing. Rating: *****
